In the Shadow of the TImeships

 In the shadow of the time ships: 

Near future with sub orbit/orbit ships with life support/ecosystem apart from earth time aloft supported by earth’s sun and rocket fuel. 

By burning earth’s resources the extraterrestrials are able to slow time aboard ships and use longer timeline to an advantage against those still on earth. 

Ash sits in his classroom and doesn’t notice the shadow big and black as it passes over his city. It’s happened every day of his life for the last 8 years. It had done it every day for most of his mother’s 24 years as well. “The Time Ship” would blot out the sun momentarily for his small town each day for a short time each day. At 11:11 a shadow passes over the city and life moves on. 

Can you imagine being on there? 

On where? 

On the time ship! It never gets dark there. It’s always in the sun! 

It’s just a ship, it aint no “Time Ship” 

Well if the day never ends then why wear a watch? 

So you’ll know when to nap! Now go brush those teeth! 

Deborah said she talked to a girl that had stayed on the time ship for a week of vacation. She said they slowed time down to make a day last a whole week and they watched the world spin away under them! 

Deborah’s been watching the ads on her tablet

Well she uses her moms tablet sometimes. 

They have ships that make a day last a whole year now! But it’s only the new ones with the newest engines. 

Well, said Conner to Corbin, they don’t think it’s fair that one can for instance, deposit money in an account and disappear on a time ship for a year where then steps off only a week older and has compounded a years interest. 

But they did have the money for a year, that’s what they are paying for right? 

Yes but the owner is taking a shortcut and meeting his money a year later. 

Surely the cost of being aloft for a year is higher than any interest earned on the money, 

Ah but with enough capital, and surely it’s out there, one could cover his time aloft with interest earned from borrowers on earth. 

Effectively doing what? 

Earning interest on his money for a thousand years, while living as an extraterrestrial in his “Time-Ship?”  amassing the wealth of one on a 100 year timeline! It could be quite profitable. 

Life aboard a time ship would be ideal for kings. An all expenses paid escape from time. The man aloft would need to make contact regularly for context but would age on a longer timeline in order to charge interest over the longest timeline. 

Tourism aloft would attract an upper middle class with interest of any time aloft at all. 

The time ships are self sufficient airplanes with enough life support and solar generated power that they can remain aloft at speeds fast enough to maintain daylight over several days, weeks, months, or years these extended periods between sunrise and sunset are known as “time aloft” time aloft is far enough away from earth and moving at a fast enough speed that it would change a day aloft to one week earth time. This time aloft must burn tons of resources, which some have but others must covet. 

The first time ships were rockets. Fired hard in one direction in time and space, fast enough and hard enough to slow time and massive enough to maintain an orbit around earth. The little cans of people would ricochet around in the o-zone for weeks before slowing back to relative earth time. Meanwhile the watches on the people were a day behind. .97 days behind. They had slowed time. 

The slowing of time leads to a time race of sorts with those bosting of their longest time aloft. Being captain of a ship that can bend time becomes a lucrative career.
